At the helm of our service department is Randy, a graduate of the Marine Mechanics Institute class of 2021, where he earned the distinction of graduating top of his class and receiving the Student of the Year award. Following graduation, Randy built his career working across some of the most active and demanding marine markets in the country — spanning the Central Florida coastline from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale, west to Clearwater and St. Petersburg, with the majority of his professional experience based out of Daytona Beach, where he served as Head Technician at Bluewater Marine. That kind of exposure — across multiple markets, multiple brands, and a wide range of vessels — is what separates a seasoned technician from someone still learning on your boat.

Randy's primary specialty is Mercury outboard systems, with extensive hands-on experience servicing and diagnosing Mercury powerplants ranging from 60HP all the way up to the V8, V10, and V12 platforms. His expertise includes full Mercury joystick system rigging and installation, as well as autopilot system installation and setup — specialized capabilities that require a high level of factory training and real-world experience to execute correctly. His capabilities extend across Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda outboards, as well as stern drive systems, allowing Darkwater Boats to service a broad range of vessels under one roof. Randy holds factory certifications through Mercury and Yamaha, carries his NMEA certification, and is a certified Garmin installer — ensuring that every repair, service, and electronics installation meets the highest professional standard.
